Where does Reiki energy come from?

The “ki” in Reiki is Universal Energy. Everyone has access to this in some measure. Reiki practitioners have learned to channel or transmit this Universal Energy through their hands without depleting their own personal energy

Is Reiki a religion?

Absolutely NOT. Practitioners come from many religions and spiritual belief systems. They are free to believe anything they choose and continue to practice according to their beliefs.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

During a treatment, the client remains fully clothed. The client may be asked to recline on a massage table. Treatments can also be received while sitting or standing. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client’s body in a series of traditional hand positions, or according to the client’s needs. Universal/Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client’s body. Each position is held for some minutes, depending on how much Reiki energy the client needs. A treatment can last from 30 to 90 minutes.

Who should learn Reiki?

Anyone can learn Reiki and everyone who would like to enhance their personal (physical, mental and emotional) and spiritual evolution is welcome. There are no age limitations, especially for Level One, but anyone under legal age should have parent/guardian permission.

How long does it take to learn Reiki?

Reiki I is generally taught in a single weekend. Depending on the student’s prior knowledge, for instance, we recommend a minimum time of 12 hours for this class. Some classes may be shorter or longer.

It is recommended that the student practice regularly the  Reiki I level for a minimum of three months before going on to level II.  This time is necessary in order to become well grounded in Reiki energy before continuing to the next level.

Reiki II is taught over two or three days, depending on the student's knowledge level and ability.  Three symbols are taught at this level, and this will require some time to learn and internalize.

There should be a minimum of one year of regular practice before anyone considers the Reiki III level.  This level is definitely not for everyone.

What is a Reiki attunement?

A Reiki attunement is given to a Reiki student by the Reiki Master during a class. During an attunement, Reiki energy flows through the Master’s hands into the student. This special energy opens pathways and connects the student to the source of Reiki and enables the student to transmit Reiki energy and to give Reiki treatments to others.
